Moving materials:  Loading and unloading materials, and moving them to the worksite

Operating  electric and non-electric tools :  Operating equipment like drills, shovels, and jack-hammers  

Preparing job sites: Digging trenches, setting up signs, moving equipment, collecting tools

Maintaining cleanliness: Keeping the work area clean and safe

​Following safety procedures: Obeying health and safety codes, and wearing personal protective equipment ( hard hat, Hi-V’s, Steel cap boots, glasses and gloves ) 

Assisting tradespeople: Taking on manual tasks to help other tradespeople 

Reporting issues: Escalating issues to project or site managers 

General laborers may also be responsible for: Cleaning tools, Understanding how different building materials are used, Posting warning signs and hazard labels, and Assisting with electrical and plumbing installation.
